Load it, Square it, Quilt it

Description: Lecture Demo
If you own a quilting machine and need a little help or are dreaming purchasing of one and do not know where to start, this class is for you.  when she purchased her first quilting machine and how her business grew into a Longarm Rental Center and APQS and Handi Quilter Dealership.  In this demonstration workshop, students will learn to prepare the quilt for loading using the Quick Zip System™.  Sue will discuss squaring the backing fabric, different types of batting and threads and easy tricks to handle quilt tops that just won’t lay flat.  After loading the quilt on the frame, she will teach you a simple way to keep the quilt square using the PatternGrid.  An overall pattern will be adjusted to fit the quilt and Sue will give you tips on keeping your spacing even.  She will also demonstrate her technique on finishing of the bottom of the quilt when the pattern doesn’t fit.  As time allows, Sue will discuss stencil placement tricks, stitch in the ditch, easy free motion design ideas and tools, books and techniques that helped her when she was a newbie.

Qbot and 4D Design Creator Software

Description: Lecture Demo
This is a great class for Qbot Owners or quilters curious about what a Qbot can add to their quilting. Denise will walk you through the basics of placing designs using your Qbot. She will cover block designs, border designs and edge to edge pantograph designs. Plus learn her timesaving tips and tricks.

In addition, she will show you how to use the 4D Software to create your own designs or modify existing designs to get more from your Qbot. There will also be plenty of time to get your Qbot questions answered by the Qbot expert.

If you have a Qbot, you don't want to miss this class!

Have you looked at quilting designs and wished you could be that creative? Are you convinced there is not an artistic bone in your body? Wouldn't it be nice to be the creator of a design that people ohhed and ahhed over? Join Patricia as she uses templates to create truly stunning designs. Explore the creative possibilities templates open for those of us who cannot draw. No artistic talent needed! This is a hands on drawing class where you will be doing the drawing yourself! Description: Broaden your piecing expertise while you learn the clever Thirtysomething concept taught in this class. Basic Thirtysomething units have three points meeting in the corner of a square. Use the new Thirtysomething Square Up and perfect little units will result with reduced frustration and increased fun. Use your scraps to make four-pointed stars and begin a quilt that is done when you say it is done.

Beginning Sewing - Tote Bag

Instructor: Nicole Schneider, Fabric Shapers
Time: 10:00-3:00 Friday February 17

Description: Learn basic sewing construction with this easy to follow pattern. Learn how to apply lining, pockets and straps. (any description that you have come up with is perfect)

Bring to class: 3 or 4 pieces of coordinating 100% cotton fabric 26 inches in length. The body of the bag may be canvas if desired. If you desire a more stiff bag, bring 26 inches of sew-in fleece interfacing.


Please bring a your own sewing tools. A limited number of sewing machines are availabe. Please indicate on your class signup if you would like us to reserve a machine for you.

Kit Fee: Paper pattern and plastic canvas (for bottom of bag) are available for purchase for $10
Supplies Needed: 3/4 yd of 3 or 4 pieces of coordinating 100% cotton fabric. The body of the bag may be canvas if desired. If you desire a more stiff bag, bring 3/4 yard of sew-in fleece interfacing.

Applique Wreath

Applique Techniques

Instructor: Linda Krueger, Pinery Patches
Time: 12:00-3:00, Friday, February 17

Description: Learn two ways of applique - hand and machine. Machine applique will use the fusible web to position the pieces. Then you will use your machine to finish the edges. Hand applique will use the back basting technique to position the pieces and use the needle turn technique to applique.

Class Fee: $30.00

Supplies Needed: Machine in good working order, scissors, applique needle, 12 inch square of light fabric, 6 inch square of red fabric, thread to match the fabrics.
